July is school backpack collection month — PowerPacks! Here’s Life Inner City is looking for backpacks and school supplies to be collected by August 4th.

Feel free to add extras but these are the basics:

Elementary:

Urban Immersion

In March we hosted 31 college students from Ole Miss and the University of Pittsburgh for our first Urban Immersion ... our spring break of living, working, and learning in the inner city.
      On our very first afternoon we held an outreach at a run-down trailer park on Orange Blossom Trail (OBT). We met Vanessa. She was sitting at the bus stop. We almost passed her by, but as soon as we told her about our outreach and free food, she came right over. More...

Boxes of Love

Thirteen churches and ministries joined us at our office at Restore Orlando on the Saturday before Thanksgiving to pack over 400 Boxes of Love — holiday meal boxes with enough food to feed six peoplet — over 2400 people! Afterwards several of us delivered the boxes to the surrounding neighborhood and shared the gospel.
      In one Kaley Avenue neighborhood, a woman was visited by a group of high-school girls who had come to pack and deliver boxes on behalf of one of the ministries. During the visit the young ladies shared the gospel, and the woman gave her life to Christ.

In the Neighborhood

Last September Here's Life staff members, Mick and Clarice, joined Total Restoration Transformation Center for their back-to-school outreach ... distributing shoes, backpacks, and school supplies. The kids also enjoyed facepainting, a hula-hoop competition, musical chairs, a Bible lesson, and some of the boys received free hair cuts!
      One man sat alone in the room — the only father among the parents. He had brought two children with him. Mick talked with him during lunch and a couple other times during the outreach. After a few spiritual questions, it seemed an appropriate time to share the gospel with the man. He knows he needs God in his life, but wasn’t ready to take the step of faith. Please pray for Hector to take that big step to surrender his life to Christ.
