Partnership in Brooklyn
As the church prayed about ways to connect with their neighborhood, they had a great idea — a Street Festival. Fliers were distributed, and neighbors were invited. A "prayer walk" around the community helped prepare fertile spiritual ground. The church had the passion and the commitment — they just didn’t have all the resources to pull off this huge undertaking. But Beulah Church is a partner ministry with Here’s Life Inner City, having worked together for years. The Here’s Life warehouse in New York was the behind-the-scenes provider for many of the resources that made the Street Festival a success. Thanks to the generosity of individual and corporate donors, the warehouse was stocked with food, drinks, toys, Christian materials, and toiletry items to contribute to the outreach. Invited guests and folks who were just passing by were lured by the smell of grilling chicken and the sound of joyful music. The salad the accompanied the chicken came from the warehouse, as did the cold drinks and the desserts. Candy and toys were prizes for the games, and toiletry items filled the gift bags for moms. Visitors examined (and took home) Bibles and Christian materials from a Book Table. There was also a Prayer Station inside the church where people could bring their needs and have them prayed for. As folks from the church listened and prayed, they also shared the Gospel. Nine people came to faith that day, including a mom, dad, and their four children. The family has been coming to the church ever since! Nearly 150 newcomers joined the festivities that day. God used the partnership between Beulah Church and Here’s Life to make a strong impact on that community. Previous Stories of Hope: We Don’t Ever Have to Go Back! |
