Celebrating New Lives
Hopeless — that seemed like an accurate description of four broken lives: Cecelio, Robert, Lulajeane and Alisa.
But nothing is impossible with God, and He has turned their lives around.
A turnaround is why Cecelio is now pastoring a mission church on the island of St. Vincent in the Caribbean, sent from his home church in Harlem. Considering his past life of drugs and alcohol, Cecelio’s new life is going in a completely different direction.
A turnaround is why Robert is married, holds a steady job, and is active in his local church. You would never know that Robert’s dark past included violent abuse, neglect in the foster care system, and a pimp for a father. After 40 years of a horrendous life, Robert found hope and grace ... and surrendered his life to Christ.
A turnaround is what put hope back in Lulajeane’s life. She thought her long police record meant the end of her dreams. “I remember walking the streets and feeling like I was dead,” Lulajeane says. “I was thinking, ‘What am I going to do? I’m at a dead end.’” But Lulajeane didn’t know that God offers second chances. Now, she is pursuing a career in education.
Alisa’s past includes jail, hard drugs, violence — and the heartbreaking surrender of her four children into the foster care system. But tragedy didn’t write the end of Alisa’s story. God did.
“Now, my attitude is so surprisingly about-face,” Alisa says. “The Lord has delivered me. I never thought I could have this much peace.”
By God’s incredible grace, these men and women were given the gift of a turnaround. In each life, part of His process was a unique Here’s Life Inner City resource — Holistic Hardware.
Holistic Hardware is a motivational series on video and DVD ... with supporting curriculum designed to offer direction and strength to people in severe personal crisis as they rebuild their broken lives. Its biblically-based holistic approach challenges individuals to apply 10 “tools” to their lives on a daily basis: Vision, Responsibility, Self-esteem, Faith, Love, Discipline, Association, Planning, Work, and Wealth.
