ForwardBound — Life Skills and Career Development
From crisis to careers and Christ — Here’s Life’s ForwardBound equips and trains churches to offer practical life skills and career development resources for people at risk.
Often securing a job isn’t enough. There are also "life issues" that may keep the poor from getting and/or holding jobs. Holistic Hardware was mobilized to fill that gap.
Holistic Hardware was developed in a Christian homeless shelter in Harlem, and Here’s Life made it transferable via video. It provides biblically-based instruction and inspiration to move people out of crisis into productive living. Focusing on ten key areas, including Responsibility, Planning, Work, and Self-Esteem, Holistic Hardware has proven effective in prisons, rehab centers, juvenile homes, and court-mandated anger management classes.
We are very pleased to announce that an enhanced Holistic Hardware is now available on DVD for only $89.95. This proven resource includes 10 lessons (each with testimonies, teaching, a short drama and music), plus a CD with a leader’s guide and student and leader worksheets. A recent expansion of Here’s Life’s career development emphasis is through WorkNet. WorkNet’s philosophy is to help people discover work they can do today in a field of current interest that leads them to a future dream job.
People with barriers appear difficult to place in the workforce, but "No One Is Unemployable," writes bestseller co-author Elisabeth Harney, President of WorkNet Solutions, who developed this highly successful career development model for the at-risk.
The interactive and creative curriculum teaches difficult-to-place candidates how to create a career path to a job of their dreams, how to overcome barriers to employment and identify solutions, and how to develop a job search strategy. It also trains them in the marketing skills necessary to obtain meaningful employment.
Two Here's Life staff members have been trained to teach the WorkNet curriculum to Here’s Life partner ministries.
When appropriate and practical resources like Holistic Hardware and WorkNet are provided by compassionate Christians, participants are equipped not just with skills but also with the spiritual motivation and direction they need to empower a new life.
